Transformational Bodywork
Transformational bodywork is life-altering work. It's a process of changing destructive emotional and behavioral patterning by releasing the physical armoring and restrictions that support these patterns. It's based on the premise that the body's inherent wisdom and intelligence are the forces that produce healing.
Unproductive patterning may also be called addictive patterning, and may manifest in relatively obvious ways such as alcoholism, eating disorders, or codependency. But usually the deepest levels of patterning are much harder to recognize, even though they may adversely affect every aspect of a person's life. These deep-level patterns involve "loops" - where emotions, thoughts, sensations, and behaviors continually feed into one another, creating a "hamster-wheel" effect. The mind and body expend a great deal of effort without really getting anywhere. It's easy to see how this often leads to anxiety, rage, or depression.
Transformational bodywork is an effective way to break this cycle. It involves releasing fascial restrictions, and increasing body awareness. Fascia (connective tissue) is what gives form to our body, and consequently is what retains patterning of many kinds. Emotional responses are patterned into the fascia. Traumas (physical, emotional, and psychological) are patterned into the fascia. Belief systems are patterned into the fascia. To understand this, think about the posture and body language of someone who is depressed. Then think about the posture and body language of someone who is confident and engaged in life. Both are expressing emotional and psychological patterning with their physical bodies.
By working with techniques of CranioSacral Therapy and Myofascial Release, I am able to facilitate a shift of this patterning on the physical level. I couple this with an ongoing dialogue with my clients to increase awareness of what is happening on the physical level, so my clients are able to make connections between thought processes, emotions, and physical responses, and ultimately develop greater command over the choreography of all these elements.
Feel free to contact me if you're interested in Transformational Bodywork. Your first session should give you a definite sense of the impact of this work. Beyond that, you may do this work at your own pace, but I do recommend making a commitment to regular sessions. If you're ready to heal the destructive patterns in your life, this work will probably surprise you with its effectiveness.
